Default Does anyone running K04 setup for CVT?

I,m just curious to find out if anyone has K04 setup for CVT. It would be interesting to find out whether CVT chain can handle such HP and TQ from K04.

The chain can handle 310Nm of torque...what that is in Ft.lbs., I have no idea.

Default 228 ft/lbs...conversion factor is .73756 in case you were interested (more)

I've heard that there ARE CVT's running the K04 but I dont know who/where...only references to it on AW. I'm sure it can handle higher torque loads, but Audi would never admit it for fear of tuners pushing the limits. How much higher I have no idea. Luk is possibly introducing a new belt for the CVT in 2005 which is able to withstand higher torque loads.

Default Doesn't AggregatVier have a CVT? He's running the turbo from the 190hp Euro A4...

Not the typical K04 setup, but he has upgraded from stock.

Default True Audi would never admit the real limit of the chain, but..

I read this fact on a report from Luc, the manufacturer of the chain (and torque transfering portion of the cvt). They probably didn't apply as much of a safety factor as Audi would because they don't have as much liability. I could be wrong, though. Either way, I would challenge the 228 Ft.Lbs. limit by much. Ever seen a high velocity chain fly off of a bike?! Yikes!

Default I agree...without long term testing, i wouldn't mod mine over 228ft/lbs...

Unless Luk does release a new CVT belt next year that easily swap and carries a significantly higher torque load. gotta go search their press releases again about that..

Default Problem is it's dying after 5400 RPM. I have to go with bigger...

...injectors. I'll still have to tune it so it doesn't get too close to the 228 ft-lbs limit. Right now it's maxing at ~200 ft-lbs on the MAHA dyno.

Default The CVT has a torque sensor. Exceed the limit and it shuts off the fuel flow.

Nice little fail safe.
