Does that black plate behind the rear license plate **** anyone else off??
OK, so I bought the AudiSport license plate frame, but that ugly *** black backing still shows through for like 1 cm at the bottom - looks pretty damn ugly!
What were they thinking when they designed this?

Same problem, here's how to fix it.
Hi, I bought the audi sport frame, too. I took the plastic off and basically shaved off the bottom about a quarter of an inch with an electric sander. Other people said that a dremel (I thinik that's what it's called) works really well. It's just a matter of using something powerful. Now, my car looks great and the plastic isn't sticking out.

No doubt it's an easy fix - but something that should NOT have to fixed
Considering the fact that they make TWO different hatches, one for US and one for the rest of the world - you'd think they'd know the proper dimensions of the liscense plates!

That's the part that amazes me too...
I sent the licence plate dimensions to AoA once with a long rant about how half-assed the fit is. It was like that on my '98 and when I realized that the '02 was the same way, I was pissed. Never heard anything back from them, not that I expected to.

How do you remove it if you want to sand or trim it?
Do you have to remove part of the trunk lining or can it be done from the outside? I took off my license plate the other day to see about removing the black plate but it seems to be secured by these funky clips.......thoughts or suggestions anyone?
