Default Door Trim Issue

Any ideas as to why the area around my door trim is taking on a chalky-white appearance (see photos)? I never use any harsh chemicals (just a mild detergent and water, when cleaning) and it's only happening on the driver's door.

Any remedies?

Thanks,
Will

keep it simple, toothbrush, soap and water. Looks like the residue of something you have been cleaning with or plastic treatments you are using. Not using Armour All are you?

I never use Amour All or any other plastic treatments, and as far as cleaning goes, it's a couple drops of Mr. Clean to a gallon or so of hot water.

I have a suspicion that it's from something the dealership used when they fixed my door speaker wiring (yikes, maybe Amour All!).

Attached are some updated photos, with the trim removed. I'll definitely try the toothbrush and soap method - the melamine-resin foam (magic eraser) is my plan B.

Default MR CLEAN

i would stay away from Mr Clean, pretty strong stuff for superficial dirt...that may be leaving residul because it really needs to be "rinsed" off with water.

Hey everybody,

Thanks for all of the tips - the magic eraser (using very light pressure) was the most effective.

Attached is a photo of the end result - good as new!

Moral of the story: Six years of using Mr. Clean on interior surfaces was not a great idea.
