Default it really appears it's at dealers discretion these days

I got mine replaced after 30K miles and 3 years. But lots of people are getting turned away.

Default I got my esp button replaced last week, my car is 20 months old 20K miles

My esp button was not peeling but the finish on it was bubbling up. Now I noticed I have some chipped paint on my front passenger switch but im not gonna bother with it, I will just put some clear nail polish to stop it from running hehe

I was refused the ESP button replacement under warranty by Palisades Audi (NY) at the 20K service. They sited a 12-month warranty for interior defects only.
I called AudiUSA and the service rep. said the 12 month period is more of a rule of thumb for when an interior defect is considered to be a defect rather then "wear and tear" (which is not covered at all) and that the final decision is left at the dealer's discretion.
I did mention to the dealer that a LOT of people are reporting the same problem, so it should really be treated as a defect regardless of the car's age, but they told me off very nicely and offered to sell the EPS switch (can't buy just cover) for $34.
Did anyone get their defective EPS button replaced under warranty (after 12 months) in the tri-state area (around NYC)?
Thanks
