Drove a friend's BMW 325xi this weekend...
I think the steering is 10 times tighter than my A4, and the 325 feels like it's attached to the road. The A4 feels sloppy compared to the 325, where sometimes I feel like I'm going to lose control, the 325 has an unbelievable feel and grip. Don't get me wrong, I still love my A4, but I was surprised at the difference between the two...

how hard have you pushed your car ?
i only ask for this reason... you said when you get the point where you feel you're gonna lose control... i was just wondering what you were doing...
cause ive never had that feeling in my car actually

I haven't pushed it that hard...
It's usually when I'm just driving straight, and go over bumps, the car gets very sloppy and I have to work hard to keep it straight, where the 325 just plunges through, straight as an arrow. I may get mine checked out as some people have said it's not normal. I thought it might be the tires, but these still have lots of tread left, and are wearing evenly. I'm driving on the same roads as with my A4, and I can definitely notice the difference...

Mine feels very stable at high speeds on a straight line...
Tires would have a lot to do with that, and it's not necessarily just a matter of how much tread is left but how the tread pattern is...
Alignment is another thing you might want checked.

I agree, never felt out of control
I have had my A4 for a little over a year now, and not once have I felt as though I was going to lose control. My roommate has a 330Ci, and I have driven it several times, and I truly believe it does not handle as well as my A4. Perhaps the CG (Center of Gravity) is lower, and the Quattro are responsible, but none-the-less, I can out corner him with little problem. Still working on a sig for everyone as well, I need the rain to go away so I can clean it up first.

i get the same feeling over bumps fast
in particular there is a banking turn (i say banking its literally probably 1 or 2 degrees)...
but in the middle of the turn is a seem where the 2 piece of road connect
and when i go over that it really feels like my car will float of to the side and not go where i want to it... (but it never does... it generally sticks to the road)

so why don't you own a BMW?
any inteligent buyer would explore all options before making such a large purchase. I test drove the AWD models from BMW, MB, Jag and Volvo before buying and you know what I ended up with.

I think it was tighter when I first bought it - I had it checked out once...
but they said it was the tires in the grooves in the road. I understand this could be true, but I'm going to take it to another dealer for my next service and have them take a look as well. I may also see if someone who lives out here in Denver who has an A4 can drive mine and compare it to theirs...
