When i installed my e-codes, i had to cut the harness from my stock housings and re-use them on my a4 e-codes.
Has everyone had to do this when they installed e-codes, or do some e-codes actually come with harnesses to plug directly into the ballast?

your e-codes, they actually came with the connector harness to plug into your existing ballast? you did not have to remove the harness from your stock headlight and transfer it over?

An easier way to do this is to carefully disengage the wire terminals from the ballast power connector plugs on both pairs of headlights, then simply re-insert the wire terminals of the E-code ballast power supply wires into the style of ballast plug/contact housing you need for your ballast version. with this method, there is no need to splice the wiring.
The wire terminals are released from the connector housing by inserting a needle type probe into the contact housing from the end opposite where the wire enters into the housing and shifting a retainer tang inside the contact housing so that the wire terminal can be pulled out. Do not pull on the wire before the retainer tang releases the wire terminal, otherwise the force needed to release the wire terminal will damage the retainer tang. Notice the orientation of the wire terminal in the contact housing in relation to the retainer tang so that the terminal will be properly locked in place when reinserting the wire terminal into the ballast plug/contact housing to be used. The tang should make a "click" when the terminal is inserted completely in the contact housing.
The contact housing swap takes only a few minutes, and the procedure is really allot easier to do that explain!
