Default Is it easy/reasonable to put new speakers in my A4 (non-bose)?

I have had the car for several months now, and I am underwhelmed with the sound system. At first I thought it was the bass (or lack thereof), but now I'm thinking that maybe it's just the speaker quality. Is it easy to buy new, higher quality speakers and install them? Does the quality issue even lie in the speakers? I am not interested in replacing the head unit...I like the stock look. I also don't want a big subwoofer in the trunk, nor do I want to have to add an amp. What are your opinions?

Default I did it but used custom adapters (see pic poster). Others have just...

gutted out the old door woofs/mids and screwed the new speaker to the OEM door adapters. I saw a German webpage that has the adapters but they won't be handling any non-European orders until next year. For me, it was a three day job.

Do a search in the Audio section under 8E0 868 243 cause you're going to need several of these for your doors.

Default Does it significantly increase the sound quality, even without an extra amp or subs?

Was it worth all the effort?

BTW, do you have the exact same car as "her"?

Default Yes, but the bass still suffers and I need more wattage for the new speakers.

So I'm putting a 200W BassLink in place of the stock woofer and separate Blaupunkt PA275's (low heat and small) for the front pair and the back pair of door speakers. Someone here recommended cutting out the center channel speaker because there's no quality replacement (it's bridged between the front right and left channels but I may replace it with a tweeter.

Default Heh....quite expensive.

Could have gotten the Bose for that amount (and it wouldn't void the warranty).
