Ecodes are here!
Just received my xenon ecode headlights from the recent group buy put together by CMC (*big* thanks to him for hooking us up and making it painless)! These units include the housings + the xenon ballast/bulb stuff too. I won't have time to pull my DOT halogens and install them until sometime early next week but I will be posting pictures as soon as I do. I've got a picture or two of them fresh out of the box from Germany that I will post later this afternoon. They are not on the car yet, and they already look sweet.
Anyone else out here get in on the same deal?
Hey, a question for our Euro friends and those among us who have installed ecodes in their 02's:
First, I noticed for the first time that the high-beam reflector assembly has an extra bulb mounted low in the assembly. Is this the bulb for the DRL's/city lights that I have seen a comment or two posted on this forum about? When do these lights come on?
Second, one of those same DRL lamp sockets mentioned above was missing a bulb when it arrived. I saw a previous post mentioning a number W5W for city lights (linked below). The matching bulb from the other assembly has the following printed on it:
12036LL PHILIPS
H6W LL 12V 6W
(a symbol) 2GK (more symbols)
What's all this? I'm thinking this light is actually a H6W, and maybe the post below applied to halogen lights . I noticed on the previous generation forum, seems W5W was used in the A4 and H6W in the S4 for ecodes. I suspect it's probably the same for the 02's.
Anyone know a place to get these in the U.S. or do I need to go online?

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/57982.phtml</a

City lights
Those are indeed the city lights. The first rotation of the light button lights them, together with the rear lights. See picture for the position. Is the US Spec button different???

The next position will fire up the low beams. The city lights stay on with the low beams, so its also a safety feature if one of the low beams burns out (Not that that will ever happen with xenons).
H6W are small 6W halogen bulbs.
W5W are small non halogen 5W bulbs with a glass socket.
See sites like www.autolamps-online.com for all kinds of Euro type bulbs.
I suggest Osram Cool Blue H6W or W5W bulbs (whatever type you need), since they are slightly blue and therefor match the xenons best.
And while you're at it...get the Diadems or SilverVisions for the signal bulbs. Those are silver instead of orange.
