<center><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/leemos/16972a54.jpg"></center><p>I cant get the freaking thing to turn on.
I bought an 'add a curcuit' the thing doesnt plug into the box perfectly, but it makes good enough contact.
I have the t top clamped, everything seems right.
should I have grinded off the paint on the ground?
Any ideas, or other ways to do it?
Thanks, Derek

Default disconnect the ground hold the rubber and touch the bolt on outside

try to unit. by touching the bolt i mean to have the U shaped metal end touch it. the ground does need direct metal contact

Default I thought most were grounding on a nut at the top

Some chap did a helpful monster post earlier

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/87669.phtml

Take a look at some of the "fuse" ones.

Good luck..

Default I like to use the common ground just below the hood release ...

there is a nut there with all brown ground wires connecting to it. I think it is the surest way to ground all mod accessories, much better than the screws at the fuse box.

Default where does the end of the red wire plug in?

Is that a special fuse attachment piece?

Default Re: where does the end of the red wire plug in?

he's using a fuse tap to get power from one of the dedicated circuits on the fuse panel. The end of the wire (away from the fuse section) is the hot lead to his accessory which still needs to be grounded (and also fused). I don't think the tap will actually provide a safe fuse for both the existing and new line, but will work only to protect the existing circuit.

What are you planning to do?

Default Re: where does the end of the red wire plug in?

I just ordred a V1, so I'm following some of these hardwiring posts in an attempt to figure out what the steps are for wiring it up. As long as it's safe, I like the idea of using a fuse tape.

Default Tapped into the garage door fuse from the back and it works perfect

Also permanently disabled the X band, so much better.
I also hardwired my MP3 player into my center console.

Default I'm not sure that yer using the fuse tap correctly...

If I'm not mistaken, the fuse tap I see in your pic is for tapping a "mini" blade fuse. You are tapping a regular size blade fuse.

If you were to direct tap the fuse box (which is perfectly fine); You must tap the "hot" side of the fuse and then fuse your tap seperately...

In your pic, the load side of the fuse is tapped.
FYI, the hot-side of the fuse is on the left...
In all intents and purposes, left/right side really doesn't matter till that originating fuse blows then both the originating and the tapped circuit is now dead...
Tapping the correct side does matter.

Few things:
1. Make sure you are using your "piggy back" fuse correctly. Refer to the instructions.
2. Check your originating fuse to see if it's blown.
3. Here is a pic of my tap for reference.

Hope this helps

Default Lots of different kinds of tap fuses, which one to use?

There seem to be several different types of tap fuse, some with "piggy-back" fuses and others without. Which kind are you using in your picture?
