Default EMERGENCY HELP!

m car is dead.. audi a4 3.0.. (didnt have coil packs changed yet, but im affraid one went)

Driving home an hour ago, started RAINING REALLY HARD, went through a few large puddles without incident, and then, i went threw a big one... mis judged... 15 seconds after going through puddle, car stalled in middle of street.. Lost complete power.. Car WOULD not start, battery light went on, and so did engine light. Car had power.. radio lights working, but car just didnt have enough power to start. (engine light not blinking). Car Finally Turned over after a cop helped me push it into parking lot.. IT RIDES ROUGH!!!.. lots of pops coming outta exhaust, car was stalling ever so often after revving it.. Finally, i got it running for few mins, cops let me speed around large empty parking lot testing it.. (fun i know, being told to speed by cop). so.. I was flooring it, i had NO POWER at first, went very slowly.. i felt it was a coil pack, but then, once at 20 mph, it felt like my old car.. at idle, there is a TICKING sound, very loud. I checked out, cop said he saw air bubbles, i didnt personally. I drove car to friends house with police escort, i was able to keep it going finally, ticking sound went down.. I am now here.. I NEED YOUR help..safe to drive? ticking still continues, it has good acceleration after 20mph. WHATS WRONG

Default Sounds like water in the system....not good. That was a puddle???

Can you leave it there overnight...maybe things will dry out and then see how it goes? If it persists at all, i would go straight to your dealer.

Default I hope you didn't hydrolock your engine........

I hope u didn't get water in your intake. That could ruin your engine due to what's called hydrolock where water will create massive pressure in your engine causing damage to your cylinder block and pistons. It's not normally covered by warranty because they consider it as owner error but your insurance should cover it.

Default i've heard of this before in other cars

like the others have said, sounds like water in the system is causing the problem. i would not drive the car anywhere. even if the car drives well in the morning, problems may arise all over again. regardless, call roadside assistance and have them tow the car to your dealer. didn't you mention earlier that you had a nice experience with them? they should be able to help you out. if there are warranty issues, socaudi is right, your insurance will cover it.

DesiA4's right. I wouldn't drive it. Have it towed to dealer to have it inspected

Default Holy ****. From a puddle? I drove my 3.0 through about 1' of standing water, (m)

over a distnace of about 15' or so. This was about a month ago. Huge rainstorm here in NoVA, and was going through this little side road that has no street lights when BOOM, all of a sudden i hit this standing water that i never even saw coming up- apparently a little creek flooded over. I hit it going about 25-30mph and it was almost like hitting a cushioned wall cuz it slowed me down to about 10-15mph. Water was spreading out on the sides so high, it probably splashed about 4 or 5 feet high.

Went through though, no problem, and no sign of problems since. That's freaky that from a puddle all that would happen. Don't know what to tell ya.

Default Solution: WD-40!!

Use WD-40 liberally on your ignition (coilpacks) and other engine related electrical components. That's probably the problem.

Remember, WD stands for "water displacement".

If, on the other hand, your engine inhaled water into the cylinder and you tried to go with it, you could be massively fcuked and need serious rebuilding of some parts. Much less likely. That's why there's an airfilter and tubing to prevent this.

Check your airbox.
