Hey guys, i was wondering what you recommend for the break in period for my A4 1.8t. I've heard that the engine tolerances are really precise in these engines, so that the break in period is Extreamly crucial for these cars...feedback please? thanks

1K... Its important and not important.. in that one can get away without really doing it... BUT.. you really should... you can either take it easy first 1 K, and do the gradual building of revs stuff... or some one else here will probably inform you of some very involved methods.

I believe it's important...if for no other reason than i don't want to screw up my brand new car. I followed more or less the manuals advice for break-in....kept rpm's below 4-5K for 600 miles, didn't do any long road trips without varying engine speed for like 400 miles, didn't rev it in neutral for 600, etc. But now that I've got over 600 on the odometer, I'm not so uptight about driving it hard. And as soon as I can get the time, its gonna get some mods =)
