engine Temp reading

engine Temp reading
Hello all,
I'm new to the audi world, I just got a 97 A4 2.8 FWD & my question is, is it normal for the engine temperature reading goes to the middle & moves to right up to the 2nd line, some times goes back to middle again. so far it does not go all the way to hot. My radiator fan clutch I'm not sure if its already wearing out, if i turn it while not running the fan is really free wheeling & not sure how it works if the engine is runnning hot does this thing should be a liitle hard & more air will be blowing? not sure if i explain it right. Hope somebody give me advice.

While I am unable to comment on your question. I think you will find more help in the B5 Forum
This forum is directed towards B6 which no longer supports 2.8 (at least in the states...F'n Euro's get everything)
