Default engine vibration

Has anyone else experienced harshness in their 1.8t at around 2200 rpm?

Default If you are in the higher gears and the revs drop too low you may..

be experiencing driveline chatter through the clutch. More prevelant in chipped cars. If this is the case, either drop down a gear or consider a clutch/flywheel upgrade. There may be other ideas out there, but I let other comment on those.

Default yes this is normal...

there is a natural engine resonance between 2100-2200 rpm. Cold weather, firmer engine mounts, aftermarket exhust, etc. accentuate this.

Default I've had that ever since it was new, more like at 2100.

I thought it might smooth out with break-in, but it's been 46K miles now! Nothing too bad, mind you, just a kind of roughness that I think I hear more than feel. It certainly doesn't affect the power or anything, so I just figured it was some kind of resonance at that frequency.

<edit>Oops, I see qua4ttro just said the same thing.

Same here. I thought it would subside after broken in, but it hasn't. Been very cold here lately which also makes it worst. I figured by now that they would have this engine refined to the point that this type of thing wouldn't be present. Unfortunately for around town driving, 2200 rpm is a common engine speed for me.

Default Possible virbration fix...

Two ideas:
(1) I suspect the exhaust. The exhaust is foul - it kept vibrating my garage shelving right off the brackets and shaking the glass in my windows! I talked to a 'good' mechanic who had some good ideas. (My dealer didn't really show any interest.) I'm not sure if they really know that too beyond scheduled repairs.

In the end I just sold the car, but this might work if you are willing to risk $500. You should get others from the forum to pitch in to fix the damn condition once and for all. I'll send $10 just out of curiosity.

(2) Alternate solution...I have a new Infiniti G35 AWD on order.

BTW. I did try copper plugs...no luck.

So what is your # 1 possible fix? The second one is that you sold the car?
