Okay, so there's also a "slip/loss of control" threshold that ESP monitors using yaw sensors.
Still though, it takes much longer for ESP to kick in when it's off, and you never really know if it will re-activate itself in time to save you.
Basically, you shouldn't be thinking: "I can turn off ESP because it'll re-activate itself to save me if I'm in trouble."

Yep...
One of the factors that ESP constantly monitors is the number of degrees the wheel is turned. If the wheel is locked at any serious speed (probably ~20mph), ESP will kick in.
Try it in a parking lot. Lock the wheel and go WOT.
