Help!
Sometimes when I start my A4 the Traction Control light and ESP light are turned on. The car won't go above 2000 rpm and is at 1100 RPM in idle position. When starting the car after an hour or so, the lights are turned off and I can drive again. What can this be? The computer guy sais he can scan the car when the lights are turned on.

Question and comment: 1) any recent work done on the car regardless of how connected you think it may be to the lights and 2) you need to get codes downloaded by a mechanic with a VAGCOM system.

I had this similar problem and after reading through forums on here and having it replaced at the dealership (warranty) it was a bad brake indicator switch. The switch that physically reads brake input. The switch is telling your car your pressing the break and giving false input. The ESP is tied in through the ABS system. Hope this helps.
