Default Excessive Brake Dust

I have to constantly wash the brake dust off the wheels (specially the rear). Anyone knows of a solution to control this constant excess brake dust? I've heard of Mintex Red Box brake pads, but not sure if they really eliminate or at least minimize this brake dust problem. Any suggestions on these or any other pads?

I had Mintex Red Box on my '98 and they performed as advertised. Definitely worth doing.

I've got the same problem. Wondered if it was something wrong with my car as it seems the front wheels should have the most brake dust on them.

Default Mintex Red Box is the way to go. Had them on the '97 A4...

didn't need to wash for 3 weeks after the Mintex install. Prior to that I needed to wash the wheels everyday with the OEM pads.

Default Just wondering

when people change their brake pads, do the sensors still work? Id assume it was some sort of electrical contact that was part of the part which the pad was attached to which would alert the car when the pad wore through....

Or are they part of the original pads?

Absolutely! Although it's not much of an issue on this car and the wheels are a breeze to clean.

Default For a less expensive solution ...

... spend some time on the wheels. I used a cleaner, and followed up with a polymer sealant. I wouldn't use wax as the heat may not mix well with organic wax.

Now, the wheels are very easy to clean, and don't seem to attract as much brake dust as before. The bonus is that the wheels also look fantastic!

Had to wait for proper sensors on Mintex for my A6s(same as S4). Clips pop right on.
