Default Exhaust needed?

I visited a tuner shop about 30min north me and after talking to him he said aftermarket exhausts don't help our cars? Granted I don't know much but from reading all the posts on here it seems almost every other car has an exhaust, my guess it does help. Is he wrong or am I??

Just curious.

Default Think about it this way...

which is easier blowing air thru, a skinny straw from a coffee shop or a length of pvc pipe. The same idea applies to our cars, it allows the car to breath easier and removes some of the constirction brought about by the stock exhaust.

Default he is wrong. i have dyno proven numbers that show a 7 WHP gain...

uncorrected for altitude with the stand-alone addition of an aftermarket exhaust, much less a superior torque and HP curve on the plot (flatter). I can't speak for other audi models, but exhaust helps on this one. add a test pipe or high-flow cat, and your even more golden.

Default Not sure what he means by "helping our cars"?

My Milltek gave me 5-6whp and 5-6wtq (I have the before and after dyno sheets) on an otherwise stock car. The exhaust note is also much nicer than stock and always brings a smile to my face.

It's your decision if that's worth $800-$1500 that you pay for an exhaust. It's worth it to me.

Ditch the tuner and find someone else who knows Audi's or even Turbo engines.

Default On a turbo engine breathing is better, on NA it depends on the oem setup

But just about every car will benefit from better exhaust flow.

Default Great, thank you!

I was gonna say something to him but i couldn't back it up. Thanx, and even besides performance a little more growl can never hurt

If he is right, why do we consistantly show power gains from exhausts?
