exhuast guru's, some help?
Guys, i have a custom exhaust setup with a 3" midpipe that splits and goes to the two 14851 magnaflow mufflers.
the sound was awesome...for the first month. it finally took it's toll on me, since i had no middle resonator to quiet it down at cruising speeds. my driving style had to completely change in order to accomodate the exhaust and keep the sound to a minimum.
So i went in today and had a glasspack resonator put in, and the sound is drastically reduced. it still has a deep tone to it, but without the loud droning at 3k RPMS.
here's the thing, i could definetly feel more power with the car when i had just the straight midpipe, but after the resonator, the car felt like it did before i even got the exhaust. the upper end just feels like it's dying again and it just doesn't feel all there.
is there anything i can do to regain my power without having the noise drive me insane? thanks guys,

well, here's the thing, the Thermal Race sounds and performs exactly the same
why pay more for the same effects? i'm just trying to see if there are any options out there other than taking the resonator out

Re: sectioned resonator
I'm debating removing the resonator right now for more sound, but the more I read about it the more I think I want to leave it on.
Then exhaust shop said that they can try to section off the resonator to create more sound than stock. Is anyone familiar with this? Any drawbacks?

perhaps i was hasty in my response, but my friend who had a similar setup as i do rode in the car
said it felt the same. i guess it's no real dyno number, but the seat of your pants dyno is good enough for me.

Tough to feel 10hp at all. I'd recommend getting it dynod else you have know idea what is going...
on. You cant tune something by "feeling" a loss up top and the like. Changes in peaks and powerband can cause false butt dynos. The cost of a custom setup easily can become double that of a ready made unit if you take into consideration the R&D you'll have to put in to see if it works and to tune it to it's final form. Just a suggestion, but why not just try out something like a Thermal Street or Milltek. Itll save you the hassels and end up costing less. An AWD dyno runs about $100-$300 and hour. cheers! Mike

guy who isnt active on forum but meets up at our local g2g's
has pumped ridiculous coin into his magnaflow setup. im talking almost if not more than my mtm setup cost. he has been so unsatisfied with resutls sound performance he regrets it every time he starts his car he says.

actually, i love the sound when i'm WOT. it's when i just want some quiet that it annoys me
i guess i'll just get one of those k04 eliminators and be done with power.
