factory zenon vs aftermarket hid kits

Is there much of a difference between the factory a4 zenon lights and an aftermarket HID kit?

If using halogen housings, I think there might be some issues surrounding beam pattern and glare.

Can anyone who has installed one of these kits confirm this?

I don't think not having auto-levelling is illegal. Putting xenon in halogen housing is definatley

illegal though. the reflectors aren't meant for the xenon bulb so you'll blind the crap out of people.

What is the basis for that claim?? That is..

that the halogen housing has a different reflector that the OEM Xenon? This question has been raised before...

I understand the xenon projector unit and lens are quite different from the halogen version.

I hear you Raven, but still you seem to be the one saying this.

Can you help substantiate this? I apologize if you are an engineer from Audi...I just don't know where to get the real story...I don't want to blind oncoming drivers or **** off the one guy who will key my car...

I found this article yesterday. It was enough to make me cancel my HID kit order.
