Hi guys.
I'm looking at changing from my golf to my first audi, i'm looking for a 180hp quattro.
I'm in spain, and have found a couple on internet sites here, one in particular but i noticed it didn't have a little badge on the front grille.
So my questions, is the s-line that only has the badge on the front? what can i look for to confirm it's a quattro?
you hear so many stories of scams i want to be well informed
thanks
Leo

Hola
Don't know how it works in España, but over here you can take the car to a shop you are comfortable to work with and have them perform a 'Buyer's Inspection' Or you can do a CarFax search using the VIN.
Buena Suerte!

thanks for the replies guys.
I had thought about the axle and guess that would be the only true way to know i was getting a quattro.
we can take the car to a garage and get an inspection no probs, we can get a simple facts report from the police, i guess that would list if it's really registered as a quattro.
looking online at cars i have several criteria, budget, mileage etc, but also to filter out which ones look the most legit.

Find a dirt or gravel road, turn off the ESP and floor the gas. You'll get some skidmarks that will tell you everything.
I think all the Quattors have a badge somehwere that says Quattro. On the glove box, grill or rear badge.
Is it an automatic? If its a CVT transmission (no S-mode below D on the shifter) then its not a quattro.

My old 2004 A4 CVT had an S-mode as well as manumatic shift (or whatever it's called).
IIRC the "gear" selection was:
P
R
N +
D -|
S -
In regard to the OP, I now have an S-line A6. It only has an S-line badge on the front grille, but it has Quattro on the rear and on the dash (passenger side). My friend's 2005 S4 has a Quattro badge on the dash as well. Audi usually displays the Quattro logo somewhere.
The previous owner certainly could have de-badged it and I supposed he/she could have replaced the interior trim part that has Quattro. I'm not sure why someone would do it, but it's possible.
As others have said, put the car up on a hoist.

you don't even need a hoist. Just get on your hands and knees, or even walk back a ways and crouch down. you can see the rear diff and axles easy if they are there.

If you can get the VIN number, this site will tell you if it is quattro, manual or auto, year of manufacture, other basic stuff.
