Default feature? turn signal left on keeps the parking lights on... weird

So, I go to the grocery store tonight. Lights are on. (it's dark out)

Use turn signal as turning into parking space (dumb old ladies around).

Turn off car. Turn off lights.

Open car door. Chime goes nuts. Look down. Lights are off. Turn them on, then off again. Chime continues.

Noice parking lights are all on. Give up -- go into story to get groceries.

Come out, parking lights still on. Go home, and turn off lights, they go off. While still sitting in car, I turn on turn signal and the parking lights come on.

What up with dat?

Default Thats a feature...only one side stays on.

If you leave the turn signal on "left" then only that side of the car stays on. Same for the right side.

People leave one side of the parking lights on narrow roads in Germany.

Default I think it depends on how your electrical control module is coded.

I remember we discussed this a while back.

Default This is true. On My 2004.5 it does the same thing. It is meant for Europe but they kept it too....

It use to be that only the side that the flasher was selected that remained on at a dimmer setting. Now both sides stay on.

Default don't know, but it works on my 02. Not sure if it does this in stock mode, because I have my fog's

recoded (electrical control module recode).

Default Mine is 2004.5 and it does that, too.

Don't know why, but dealer showed me that like it was some great thing.
Feature I like best is the "touch the turn-signal **** and the turn signal lights automatically blink three times" feature.

all the 2004s and up have all the lights on, not just one side like it used to be.
