I have been experiencing pinging with my GIAC chip in my 2004 tip ultra sport. I know that out here in the southwest we have bad fuel with all the detergents that we use so I wanted to try 100 octane to see if that helped. I figured if it still pinged then I was going to put my stock chip back in.
All I can say about the 100 octane is Holy ****, what a difference. The turbo is lounder and the car really kicks hard. And best of all No Pinging. So I guess from now on when I fill up I am going to have to use about 5 gallons of racing fuel. I filled up with it this time but that will get expensive.

"bhvrdr" posted an informative write up from someone else a few months back about using this and it had some good reasoning for not using race fuel at the pump. You also need less I think (10-20% mixture).
I did some full tanks of the 100 octane at the pump in my chipped 1.8t VW and then cut back to 2-3 gl. It can get addictive/expensive. I also ran some in my A4 before chipping it (just to see what difference it made in stock). I'm not going to run the 100 octane at the pump now though and would opt for the Toulene instead. I think a gallon of the Toulene is much cheaper then the 100 octane race fuel at the pump.
Also, your chip is not programmed to take advantage of it - so you're not getting your money's worth. You should also only need 2-3 gl. to get the octane up enough to help with pinging.

secondly it has a side effect of drying out plastics/rubber(o-rings)... But it is 114octane in pure form.. just remember to poor the toluene out of the can/drum into a semi-clear container to check for particulants, there usually is a lot of crap on the bottom of the cans/drums.
