Default Finally got around to cleaning my undercarriage...

I've been wanting to do this for a while and after seeing Modwad's pictures a few weeks ago, I decided to do it. I didn't do as thorough of a job as Modwad though (I didn't remove the plastic covers, wheel well liners, etc...).
I jacked the car on 4 ramps (because I'm slightly claustrophobic).

Here are a few before pics.

After rinsing with the pressure washer, I went in with some degreaser and an assortment of brushes.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/clean5.jpg">
The second pass was done with some CLR to remove as much loose rust as possible.

As you can see, the northern Ontario winter took its toll and there is a lot of undercarriage and hardware corrosion.
Tomorrow, I'll be rustproofing the undercarriage. I bought a spray gun for that purpose and will do a first coating with CorrosionX HD. This stuff is supposed to penetrate through the rust, bond to the metal, and lift the corrosion while preventing the formation of new one. The second coating will be with Fluid Film which is a rust-proofing compound.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/clean12.jpg">
I tried the CorrosionX on a washer that was under my car, holding the belly pan. It was rusted side to side, I let it soak overnight in CorrosionX and it came out looking like this.

Sorry I don't have a before pic, you'll have to take my word on this!
Right now I'm wondering why I didn't do this the first year I bought my car!!!
Thanks to Modwad for the tips and suggestions on how to clean the undercarriage.

Default Nice job...

I have a feeling that the after pics will become like Miktips engine bay pictures. Again nice job and you should be proud in the fact that you had the determination to attempt this project. I applaud you.

Default Awesome job. I know it's a PITA, but you get a great feeling of satisfaction from it.

It's what sets your car apart from ones that are clean on top but look like *** underneath.
Nice work. Your car thanks you for it.
Too bad you didn't have time to take all the plastic off. You won't believe the mess behind that stuff.

Default I can imagine what is behind that plastic and "carpet"...

Maybe next time, the undercarriage will only have to be maintained about once a year so next time I might take the time to remove all the covers.
