Default Re: First Car Problem (edit)

See your dealer.. It's most likely a faulty LED or wire.

If you mean when it's in Drive the D doesn't highlight or whatever, then it could be the shifter position switch.

Default be advised, the dealer will probably replace the entire instrument cluster... (more)

I went in recently for a light out on the dash, specifically the one that lights up the + - and MODE lights to the left of the steering wheel. Replaced the whole instrument cluster to fix it!

Default I think Bewong meant on the actual shifter - not the instrument cluster indicator.

But yeah, they will replace the whole component if part of it is broken.

Default I kind of had the opposite

All my shift indicators were on, like the trans was in safe mode, but it wasn't. Took to dealer, VAG said wiring/ground fault. In the end, they found a blown circuit in the shifter assembly and had to replace that circuit board. Covered under warranty.

Default If the dealer has the part in stock, it's an easy swap. If they do not (more)

then they'll look at it and have you bring the car back in a couple of days when the receive the part.
