I ran out of storage space (even with the bins under the front seats) in my new A4. To free up a little more space, I took out the twin cup holders that are in the arm rest. They are a single plastic unit that is held in place by two screws. Just peal out the rubber insert exposing the screws and turn the two screws a quarter turn to the left. The plastic cup holder unit pops out. The arm rest is fully lined and has a finished look although one can make out the mounting holes for the cell phone after the cup holders are removed. The cup holder kinda seems like an after thought. My guess is that Audi added it only for the North American market, home of the Big Gulp.
