Default First scratch..Help! (SF bay)

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/36238/dscn0091.jpg"></center><p>It's near the rear wheel area. a little paint is scratched
Any idea about how much it will cost to repair?
Please recommend good places to repair in SF bay area.
Thanks a lot.

From the look of the photo, there isn't any paint removed, just surface damage (looks like rubber was rubbed on to it from the other vehicle?), is this true?

If so, then a good shop should be able to carefully buff off the surface damage. Probably as little as $60 for something like that (I had it done once on an old car, but it was combined with some other work).

Default What?? A lill' buff/polish like this is free at my local shop!

If the paint isn't damaged too much (if you can't see the metal through it) it should be done in 5 mins.

Well, it *could* cost that much if you go to a body shop rather than detail shop

Default Agreed, but I would take a crack at it with some 3M IHG first.

Why pay a shop to do it, if you can do it yourself?

3M Imperial Hand Glaze is readily available at Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. Rub it into the paint, until the marks are removed, then follow up with a quality wax.

Try Mathews Carlsen Body Works. They are right next to Carlsen Audi in Palo Alto. I had my 02 A4 repaired there and they did an awesome job.
