Foam in airbox

Foam in airbox
I heard from some people that there is foam in the stock airbox that is used soley to reduce sound and it slightly hinders airflow. Would it be a good idea to remove this foam completely, or does it serve some perpose besides keeping down engine noise?

thanks for passing the info; deciding if i should get sway bars or the boosted tech cai...
also, what do you think of the M1 15W-40 "racing" oil? i'm asking cause this was the only oil the d@mn store had - not even some d@mn M1 0W-40! *sigh*

I used to run M1 15w-50 all the time. Currently run Redline 15w-50, but here's the info on them...
