Default Fogging on the outside ,problem with 2002 A4

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem. I have a 2002 A4 1.8T and when it is hot and humid out, the windshield will fog up on the OUTSIDE. The defogger does nothing to help since it is outside. The only way to get rid of it, is by using the wipers every other sec, which is ridiculous, especially when it is not even raining. I took it in to the dealership and they said that there was nothing they could do. I've had several other Audis before and I never had this problem. Anyone has any ideas or seen this happen before?

try to apply rain-X on your windshield... maybe that would help.

Thanks for the responses. I will try it tomorrow, it is supposed to be another nasty and humid 90+ here in chicago. I just did a search on this problem here and seems as if I was not the only one. Audi says they know nothing of this problem, which sounds hard to believe considering message boards all have it. Thanks again.

Default the air on the outside of the windshield is hitting the dewpoint temp thus it's fogging/condensing

and the only way to change that is to try to equalize the windshield temp to the outside temp, thus do not try to cool down the windshield because this makes it worse. If the outside temp is at the dew point temp then everyone's in the same boat.

Leave the system in full AUTO. If it comes back you just have to use your wipers or make it warmer in your car to try to warm the windshield, which I assume is not an option on a 90F day.

Default Just took the Kennedy home in my '02--what a PITA, and I have RainX...

Shutting the vents off maybe decreased the intensity, but it still fogged up terribly. Something tells me Audi will overlook this one like they do their car jacks...

Default the design flaw is probably too much defrost bleed while in full A/C Auto mode.....

I had the same issue when I was designing the Chrysler Pacifica HVAC controller....it's not a simple task.

Default Re: Simple solution

Turn on the center vents and the floor vents. It will not fogg your windshield when it is extremely hot! Works like a charm!
