Default thanks for the tip, would lowering the perch

resulting in the spring sitting deeper into the shock body, lessen the load on the springs? Or there would be no net change?

Good suggestion and solution. This would explain why some people hear noises while at full lock.

It could lessen the occurrance a bit. Also makes for a slightly more comfortable ride.
