Default Four beeps from back seat?

All,

I did some searching, but didn't really seem to come with anything...

I've had a couple of times now (but not every time), where, right after I start my '02 A4 Avant (1.8T), I get four beeps from the back seat/cargo area. No warnings on the dash, nothing else seems to be wrong. Any idea what this may be?

Thanks in advance!

four beeps means that the battery for the alarm system is dead and needs replaced.

Thanks. I'm guessing it's not easily accessible?
For what it's worth, it hasn't happened in a while. The first time it did happen was after the car had sat for about 3 weeks, and the second time was a day or two after that. Perhaps it can be recharged with increased vehicle use?

Here's a writeup on replacing it.

Must be true, because mine has done that on and off for years. Never know when it starts to happen, but does for a few days then goes away.. just testing me I guess

Before you tear into the alarm module, just try charging your main battery overnight. Worked for me.
