Default FrontTrak vs Quattro in dry conditions...

Does Quattro have an advantage in dry hot conditions (I live in Phoenix) over FrontTrak. I'm not too familiar with Quattro but have been under the impression that Quattro is great in the snow and ice.

Is Quattro a true 4WD system where all wheels get the same power...or is it applied a certain percentage to the front and some to the rear or vice verse.

Someone educate me.

Default 2 cars of the same weight with the same power output to the ground

running the same tires, but one is a RWD other is an AWD, the AWD car will be able to accelerated sooner out of the turns... almost all road racing is won in the turns unless cars are completely mismatched where one has significant power advantages.

Don't forget - Quattro also means more weight.

Default front trak tires slip in dry conditions

All I know is I drove a Neuspeed chipped front trak and the front tires slipped on dry ground every time I floored it from a stop. Quattro's do not slip.

It is about steering w/the throttle. With quattro, throttle adjustments are linked to all 4 tires.

Default Why audi w/o quattro?

The reason to get an Audi is for the quattro. Quattro performs better in the snow but that doesn't matter to you in AZ. In the dry, around corners, it does better as well, but there is added weight. Honestly if you are looking at frontTrack, you might as well get a Bimmer. Rears are more fun in dry than fronts any day of the week.

Amen. I can testify to that, brother. But Audi still won't release the CVT quattro.
