So, my MIL killed the battery on her 2003 A4 1.8T w/42K miles by leaving the dome light on last week. A jump and an overnight charge got her going again and the car was running fine but the fuel gauge was reading empty even though there was plenty of gas. It was like this for four days but today she filled up the car (never lets it get below half a tank) and the gas gauge came back. All is good but is something on the way out and it is just a matter of time?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I got a flat battery yesterday after leaving the lights on all day. Got it restarted through jumpers to recharge it. I have ended up with an Empty Guage despite the fact that I put in £80 of Diesel on Saturday.
I've just been doing research and apparently, this seems to be a common fault after having drained the battery.
Mine still isn't working yet, but I will try putting fuel in again. Failing that, I have also read that disconnecting the battery and connecting it again should fix the problem...
