G12 antifreeze compatibility
I had a small leak so I need to replace some coolant. I went to several auto parts stores near me and NAPA was the only place that said they had anything that was compatible.
He wanted to sell me some Pentosin G001200. Has anybody used this stuff? I know we're supposed to use G12 coolant.
By the way, the Pentosin is 11 bucks ... for a half gallon!

Dexcool is the exact friggin' same except for a spray-fart's worth of potassium salt for propritary
trademark reasons. Sodium salt=Dexcool, sodium salt plus potassium salt=G-12. They both suck anyway, so use G-12 Plus or G-05 or Peak Global. Search.

By that same token, I'm assuming G12 would be OK in a GM vehicle requiring DexCool?
It's kind of a moot point now, but my brother's truck (2500 HD) uses DexCool and was low on coolant. I had been adding just water, but then found some DexCool at the parts store. I was debating trying some G12.
