I have a 2002 3.0 quattro automatic, and my wife has a 2003 2.8 passat 4motion. in one of our "mine is better than yours" discussions, she pointed out the a4 has a gear whine at boulevard speeds. anybody else hear it - i was unaware of the sound until she pointed it out, and the passat IS quieter. it doesnt sound like tire noise.

There does seem to be a lot of driveline slop and whine in my 5spd 1.8TQ as well. A snub mount should clean some up some of the slop, but not the whine. That's most likely temperature induced. Colder, thicker gear oil, more whine. Any testimonials of snub mounts in the B6 A4's?
