So I am *still* trying to figure out what is going on here. I talked to a guy that had a pretty good idea about it and suggested that it really sounded like a power problem. Now I have measured all through the cable inside the transmission every way possible for breaks or bad wires, I have also measured across all of the solenoids. They are a little low, but not low enough to cause problems (I would think) Maybe I am wrong here?

MV1 26.8 (Spec 30-34)
MV2 27.1 (Spec 30-34)
MV3 26.7 (Spec 30-34)
EDS1 6.0 (Spec 5.2-6.8)
EDS2 5.6 (Spec 6.2-7.8)
EDS3 5.7 (Spec 6.2-7.8)
EDS4 5.6 (Spec 6.2-7.8)

All connections through the cable measure at 0.04 which is well within tolerance for even sensitive computer wiring.

This leaves me with the possibility it is the TCU maybe? Or perhaps the wiring between the TCU and the transmission? It seems like if either of these were the case though, my transmission would be shifting into limp mode and/or throwing a code? Perhaps the snap-on tool could detect the TCU but not read the codes from it? I am really at a loss here, I really don't have the money to take it to a shop for a rebuild and I hate to be making car payments on a car that is just sitting in my driveway on ramps collection bird crap. Also, it is going to start getting cold soon and I need it before then.

I am willing to try anything that people can come up with at this point. So who has some ideas of other things I can check?

I currently have the valve body out of the car, but I am getting ready to go throw it back in and then I guess the next step will be to try and find someone with an actual VAG-COM to see if maybe the snap-on tool just couldn't read the codes.
