so was checking out chip prices for my friend's jetta....the apr chip fro the jetta (the same as my engine, just mounted differrently) is $499 and the output is 215/247. The stage 1+ which puts out the same power is a grand.....why the discrepency? Can someone shed some light on this? Also, how's shopping for a chip work, are the prices that the apr site posts what you pay or are they just recommended retail costs?

To get 215hp out of our audi's, Apr's stage 1+ kit includes larger injectors, thus the extra $500. The chip for the jetta doesnt include the injectors. The mounting of the engine actually makes a big difference. The Jettas 1.8T is has 180 HP while we have 170 stock. My last car was a 2002 Jetta 1.8t. It felt much faster than my 04 a4 which is underpowered and heavier than the jetta. I will actually be chipping pretty soon.

It says 97-02 for that- Do they really mean to include the 02s, or do they mean just the B5s?
