I have the hard time trying to figure it out..
I need you help.
GIAC is the leader in therms of HP gains for our cars claiming ~218HP..
Other including MTM Wetterauer Neuspeed TAP....
are around 195-205HP.
It makes me wonder about the reliability of GIAC chip ?? Why would not other makers come at least close to the GIAC chip ?
Thanks

as for their HP numbers...it's all speculation.
GIAC's posted dynos are for an outdated version of the chip that has since been toned down due to driveability issues. The chip they currently sell DOES NOT perform as aggressively as the version used in their original dyno!!
It's quite possible that their HP numbers are similar to Wett's...but who knows. Not surprised people are still confused by their misleading website info. I posted about it just yesterday >

honestly, not to dis GIAC or start a flame...I just personally don't think its really producing 215hp and if it is...its only for a few hundred revs at around 4k. I just got 710N BPV installed and it helped the spikey boost at low end a lot. For those getting the chip I highly recommand changing the BPV as well. For those saying that stock ones does the job then you obviously havn't changed it yet and should. 710N does the job and its only $35. You really don't need Forge or Bailey unless your going even more boost and bigger turbos. The thing we need most on our cars are new FMIC. Theres a huge difference from day time and night here in So Ca. The stock intercooler does jack sh*t. The claimed torque of 250 is def. accurate if not more. This thing is torquey!! My clutch slips in 2nd sometimes if I over rev a bit durring 1st-2nd shifts. For those considering a chip and can't decide...def get it. Its the best bang for the buck, but don't expect the car to have a diff personality. You have to realize its only software, and unless you change some hardware your still very limited to the untapped power of these 1.8 motor. I've heard great things about MTM as well and would love to get a chnace to drive a '02 1.8TQuattro with a MTM chip. Anyone in S. Ca with MTM chip? I would love to meet up and possibly get a test drive? And you can drive my GIAC setup. Oh, a side note...I just got my 19s DTM mounted a couple weeks ago and they didn't slow me down as much as I thought it would. I guess they are a lot lighter than stock 17 sports wheels (those things were HEAVY!!)
