Default Glove box issue...

My glove box used to open slowly. It would lower nice and slow. One day this week I went to open it and it just fell open and the light doesn't work anymore. This happened to anyone else? Is there a fix or should I just let the dealer take care of it?

Default there is a small plastic pin that breaks fairly easially

if you open the pasenger door you can remove th panel on the side of the glovebox, the pin will probably be lying insie. the dealer should fix it for you under warranty.

Brake for glove compartment cover, removing and installing
Pull off right cover on instrument panel
Disengage the brake for glove compartment cover -3- in a clockwise direction and remove it.

So Basically open passenger door, remove little cover by the side of glove box and check if the glove box brake is disconnected.

Default had the same thing happen...

on my previous Jetta. Good to know VW/Audi share the same development and testing, right down to the small details. Give me something to look forward to. 8-)

Default Yep...I opened the panel and was able (with a grabber tool)

to grab the pin. The only problem was...the reason the pin fell out in the first place was that it was broken.

The dealer didn't have one lying around...apparently they had to order a whole golvebox assembly because they dont have a part number for the pin. It was a PITA.

I gotta go for my 30K service real soon, so I'll see if they will fix it for me.
