Default Good/free software for the VAG-K+CAM Generic/Chinese?

I have the generic/Chinese version of the VAG-K+CAM that came with software 1.4.

What I am realy looking for is software to show the engine power
drop offs for each gear change. And other stuf like that.

I have the sharware/trial version 908 from ROSS-TECH which states it does NOT work with the generic/chinese tool/ VAG-K+CAM.

I dont like the fact that ROSS-TECH charges $599. for the cheapest hardware/software combination.
And the charge $99. to register the free software to get it out of demo/simulation mode.
I know software takes people to develope it. =$$$

The tool I have is the USB version that says USB serial in device manager.

Any help is greatly apreciated!

Don't know where you get your pricing from - Hex-USB+CAN cable & software costs $US349. Would you work for me for free? VCDS is worth every penny; Each time you clear a code you've probably saved a $60 dealer diagnostic fee.

+1

Besides, all the screwing around you will do to try to save a few bux will cost you nothing but time, and you won't have the community of help that you would have with the vagcom.... sounds like false economy to me.

I do wish he'd do a version for the iphone/ipad though... sure would make in car life easier.

As I said "READ THE TOP".

I can read ALL the codes and do everything!

I want software that shows/looks like a DYNO.
The ones that show RPM power drop offs.

Are there NO Tech heads here?

Sorry about my misquote on the price of the ROSS TECH.

BTW the one I bought cost me less than $30. with shipping!

Engine doesn't change between gear shifts, so the engine output power potential is pretty much the same in all gears but the aceleration rate... VCDS comes with a logging function that can be used to determine "generated power"; I think it's a calculation based of the MAF reading. There's also a portion of the tool that measures time and speed. Based on the car weight and the calculated acceleration you can determine at the wheel HP. There was also another thread somewhere on the net about logging the deceleration from speed down to zero without applying brakes. Based on that you had an idea of how much fiction (wind/wheel/transmission resistance) occurs and could then do another calculation to better actual crank HP. VCDS has it all already. Can you tell I love my VCDS hardware/software combo .

Again NOT talking to gear heads so I guess I have to elaberate everthing.

Have you ever seen a drag race DYNO?

I have a manual transmission and I change gears to get the car moving.
For maximum performance there is a power drop off for each gear.
So that said there is a point at wich the engine power will peak and drop off.
Example: If I stayed in each gear until it red lined that would be stupid!
Every car has a power drop off point for each gear.
I am trying to see this data live and use it for maximum power and fuel
Efficiency. As if I was drag racing!

I DON"T CARE if this data is exact I just want to use a laptop to show
this information.
