So i had a blow out on the freeway this last week and had to end up buying all new tires, (oh and i dont have a spare..dumb, thats the purchase for this week.) They needed to be changed out anyway because they were getting low and AZ tears up tires in the Summer heat...even if i drive on them for a few weeks before they sell. :-/ And i hopefully get my wheels from Avanteix..lol. i had Sumitomos 19's which were still really nice tires...but the place i got them from here in AZ made me a smoking deal compared to the other tire shops around (ex:Big O tires wanted to charge me $290 a tire!!! then add mounting and balancing too....OUCH..they told me cost was $120 also.) So this shop that a buddies sister went to a few weeks back for rims and tires told me about them and so i thought id check it out. I got 4 Toyo Proxy 4s for $870 mounted and balanced out the door. They are mostly and internet company but still do tons of business here in the valley. Another guy who i didnt go through lives by me owns a tire distributor and sells to Discount tires etc said he could get me cost plus 10% on any tire!!!! but it would take a week to get my 19s in. So i had to go with the first guys because of time contraints. But next time i think will call the wholsale guy.
So if you are in the market for tires or might be in the near future call either of these two places and they should hook you up FAT if you live in AZ but if not you will probably get a pretty good deal and save a lot of money.

168 times 4 = $672
mount and balance can't be more than 20 per tire... which means 752
you could've gotten t1-r's cheaper than the proxes 4

i mean i'd actually go back and complain if i were you...
my mom has 235/55-18 tires on her suv (stock rims)
tire kingdom wanted $306 per tire ... i was laughing in the guys face.. that he was serious
found the same tire for 176 somewhere else which seems too still be way overpriced for an 18" non-low profile all season tire
but just goes to show that tire places will scam you ... if you have the time to look around its worth it !
obviously sometimes you need a tire right then and there and cannot afford to wait
