Default Got S4 Wheel Liner Vents installed...........(Quick Write-up)

There's so many ways to do this being a true DIY custom mod....So just wanted to share my version of the S4 wheel line vents transplant mod.I'm sure mine is not the best way, but I find it to be the simplest way for me to do it.With my DSMIC installed, this will hopefully enhance more airflow thru the side intercoolers..especially when car is at speed & with the vaccum supposedly caused by the front wheels in motion (or so I heard).

I got both driverside & passengerside B5 S4 wheeliner from Clairparts...there I cut out the vents from the S4 wheel liners (there's already an outline where you can follow to cut the vents out of the S4 liners).

After removing and cleaning the factory wheel liners from my A4, I placed each cutout S4 vents behind the A4 liners and positioned where it would best center and conform to the curve of the liner.
From there I used a marker to outline the outside edge of the vents. Onced vent location is established, I pre-drilled 8 perimeter locations to where I will bolt the vent directly to the liner. It'll be easy to pilot drill one hole 1st,put 1 bolt to secure S4 vent to backside of liner, then start drilling the rest of the holes....that way you'll already have bolt hole locations for both S4 vents & liner. To keep it light, I used black plastic bolts with locknuts (same ones found at automotive stores for license plates). Next I marked and pilot drilled locations of almost every edge of each vent slat openings. This will give me reference to how much I need to cut thru the liner without going past or too close to the outside edge of the cutout vent flange.Once vent position is marked and holes prelocated, remove cutout S4 vent from backside of A4 wheel liner and commence cutting thru the liner to make opening for vent location.

After cutting the opening on the liner with utility exacto/cutter, I then install the S4 vent at the front side or inside face of the liner...bolt them in place with the black plastic bolts (locknuts on backside for clean look). In addition to bolting them, I also applied Black sealant around the vents perimeter and dabbed each lock nut with it.

Let the sealant cure then reinstall newly vented liners back to the A4 wheel wells. Later on I'll probably spray the liners with dark grey bumper or flatbed coating just to match the colors better.

As for functionality...I could feel some heat coming out from them vents after my long afternoon ride testing my newly installed Side Intercooler........Atleast it seems to also release some heat from the turbo side and engine bay, which should be a good thing.

Many thanks! You've provided lots of smart suggestions. What are the part numbers?

Default Here...........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHEEL HOUSE LINE PLASTIC PASSENGERS SIDE
Part No.: 8D0-821-172-G
Clair Price: $ 46.38

WHEEL HOUSE LINER PLASTIC DRIVERS SIDE
Part No.: 8D0-821-171-G
Clair Price: $ 46.38

They are a little pricey...I've heard some just using metal vent panels purchased from hardware stores...but that could be a little tricky to make conform to the curve of the wheel liner...which the S4 vents already are curved.
