For the second time, I'm not talking about a whole crankcase of strait 40w. If you bother to read my post completely, I acknowledge the lack of low temp viscosity in single weight or 20w-50. I think there is enough index improvers left in the 3.5 quarts of 0w-30w that's in his engine that the .5 quart of 40w won't change the start-up flow. I most likely does not matter anyway in the middle of Summer. What is it like 60 degrees at the lowest? Be real. I'd even assert that a 10w or 20w+ would work fine.
