Grinding/Clicking noise when turning??

I have a 2004 A4 1.8t, and intermittently when making a slow right hand turn (in a parking lot) I hear a low grinding and or clicking sound. It's not all the time just occationally. Any ideas??

could it be the power steering ?

my car groaned like crazy when i made slow speed turns (and i was very very low on power steering fluid)
