So I pull out this morning and as I cut the wheel while backing up I hear what sounds like grinding marbles. So I say, humm, drive up the road a bit and there is an intermittent grinding marbles type sound coming from the front driver wheel area. I go back and jack it up and the wheel bearing feels good. I think my axle or CV joint is blown. Does this diagnosis sound accurate?

I looked it it a little closer. It is more like a clicking or popping sound and occasional grinding that is affected when cutting the wheel. It also clunks a bit in reverse, sometimes. I know what bad bearings sound like - more of a groan that gets progressively worse and it is not that. The bearings are very tight and smooth. I think I blew the inner CV joint. I ordered up a full axle from Raxles. It's a much more cost effective option than oem and they use German bearings and oem axles.
