Default Guess who just got their XM radio hardware! Need some input on my install options everyone!

<img src="http://mywebpages.comcast.net/thad46/xm1.jpg">

Picked up the pioneer receiver unit and an antenna.

Was gonna have best buy wire it up because the installer i talked to has installed it on several 2002 A4s

BUT, he will only install antenna on the trunk! I couldn't bear to have something installed on my trunk! I want it on my rear shelf!

So i'm hoping it'll work pretty well back there, but gotta find someone who will install it there for me (working on that)

Anyway, i need some input with regard to mounting the controller.

My favorite idea is in the ashtray up front, but the best buy guy said it can't be done (even though i know people with it mounted there)
<img src="http://mywebpages.comcast.net/thad46/xm3.jpg">
Best buy guy suggested the mounting spot below, which would also be cool

What do you think would be best?

Think my antenna will work on the rear decklid?

Thanks!

Default A good installer shoud be able to intergrate it into the ashtray.

I personally would not trust any one from Best Buy or Circuit City to work on my car. I used to be a manager for a Circuit City road shop department and every one of my installers was a newbie who is just starting out.

Take it to a good independent shop.

Does the XM radio integrate with a pre-existing system (i.e. the Symphony)?

Default yessir. has fm modulater and stuff. OR, you can get the new blitzsafe adapter

FM modulated option is what comes with pioneer unit...you just need to tap a few things behind the stock symphony unit.

Blitzsafe adapter can be ordered for $80 and basically gives you RCA inputs into stock symphony headunit...allows you to plug Pioneer unit right into stock headunit

If you use Blitzsafe, how do you pick the source?

Default you basically pick the cd changer input, no need for radio anymore. call blitzsafe

and ask for their '02 audi adapter

do a search to find out more
supposedly works well!
