1.8t is good enough. 3.0 is too pricy

I have--finally went with the 1.8T, but still wonder if I should have gone with the 3.0

Default $500 spent on a chip make the 1.8t make more financial sense if you're not worried about warranty.

Plus i didn't want wood grain, sunshade, and some of the other 3.0 goodies that are available. And finally, couldn't afford it anyway, so I really didn't have a choice in the first place! ;D

Default Went with 1.8T (m)

3.0 is quicker, faster and smoother, no doubt. I would have liked to have the 6 speed manual as well. But after looking at the $$ for the 3.0 vs. 1.8T, the 1.8T seemed like a bargin, the 3.0 seemed over priced.

So I got the 1.8T and I am extremely happy with it. Audi builds extremely solid cars. You'll be happy with either, IMHO.

Default Me. The decision would be much easier if I could drive a chipped 1.8T

I have scoured the archives for old threads comparing the 3.0 and. 1.8T. Despite the fact that the question of how a chipped 1.8T feels vs. a 3.0 has been asked numerous times, I have yet to find a single response to that question. Perhaps few people have experience driving both.

I drove the 1.8T in stock form, and I personally didnt like how it drove. If only i could drive one with the GIAC chip....hmmm.

1.8T for value; same car (minus 3.0), better ecomony, etc.

Default Honestly, that's really the best way! :-)

About a year and a half ago, somebody in my area posted, requesting a ride in a chipped 1.8T. Coming from a 12V V6, I think he was a little skeptical, but the test drive pretty much sealed the deal for him. I remember he walked away from my house after the drive, looking back at my car. One week later I got the email..."I got my car!!!". He's had NO regrets living with the 1.8T. His name is Silver Streakin! :-)

Anyway, back to reality...the decision is yours, and it's an expensive decision. I made my decision on a leap of faith, based on what people on the forums posted about the 1.8T, and I didn't regret it, but, the 1.8T isn't for everybody. It's best to drive the car, and make up your own mind. Put up a post, mention where you are located (even the zipcode for those that might want to mapquest it), and request the assistance off chipped 1.8T'ers within XXX miles. Don't put a restriction on brand of chips...that just makes things harder. Any chipped car will give you a decent idea of how the car drives/performs. Make the decision on which car to purchase first, worry about the mods later.
