Well I guess not. Any way i swapped the sensor from bank 2 with bank 1 and the trouble is still at bank 1. Does anyone know if there is any sort of test that I can perform to see if there is a broken wire or something that is causing the sensor not to read properly?

i have had random issues for the last 2k. the dealer had the car while i was out of town and they claim to be the only ones to have had an engine code, which i forget which one, that pertained to a cam bank issue which they diagnosed to a camshaft adjuster bank 2. i choked when they quoted a $2k job. since then i have replaced one cam sensor, coil packs, and plugs. i have had a running issue in 1st to 2nd gear while accelerating. it shudders. this lasts for maybe 5 to 10 minutes and never gives a code. i have scanned this while happening and still nothing. my problem occurs once every 3 weeks if that. i am still looking. not 1 cel ever....

I had to replace mine on a 1.8t. Not sure how much the job defers from a 3.0.
But we had to pull the top engine cover off, rotate the cams out and replace the sensor that is located towards the back of the engine. Also a good time to replace the seals while you are in there.

Update
I found out tonight that the timing belt is shot. There is only 67000 miles on the car so I guess this is what you would call premature belt failure since the recommended mileage to change it is 75k.

I have a 3.0 v6 and have been getting a similar code, diff bank. My timing belt is new in the last 10,000 miles.... The code appeared the first time probably 2,000 miles after the job. Went away for weeks/months, came back, went away, came back. For months. Now it is back and wont go away, other than this issue everything seems normal.
Any thoughts anyone?

So how does a shot timing belt cause a camsaft timing sensor code?

Well the theory is that the timing belt is loose on the bank 1 side and when the cam gear in bank 1 hits the bad spot on the timing belt it slips and in turn throws the cam sensor code and causes the misfires. I say theory because I only pulled the cover on the bank 2 side to do a visual check on the timing belt. On the bank 2 side the belt is tight because the motor is turning it clock wise. So the bank 1 side is the up side which would cause the belt to be loose if the tensioner is not putting tension on it.
