This has come up before...key won't turn in the ignition!

I searched the archives and found that this happens with some regularity...you stick the key in the ignition and it just won't turn.
Has anybody found out why this happens and what the best way to 'fix' it? (I'm fully anticipate a panicked phone call from my wife in the future).

I tried that, actually. Still didn't turn over. I went to my other set of keys and...presto, it started.
Weird.

Wheel locked on my wife today in the driveway. I told her if you can't figure out how to fix it, you can't drive it. (But then she told me my key won't be working with her wheel if I don't help her out). I can't have that. All you need to do is remove key, turn wheel left and right, then stick key back in. Good as gold.

Hmmm...I may try that one! (I'll see if my wife is as crafty as yours) :-)
Okay...I'll try that if it happens again. If it happens to her, I'll give her my company car (it's a Buick)...gag.
