Default Help.. Brand New and Found Scratches...??

I have had my new 03 for 1 month now and after my 2nd wash I found linear scratches on the trunk right below the window on both sides. They are about a quarter inch long....my thought is - I bought the car off the showroom floor and the scratches could have been caused by some ladies putting thier purses on the trunk while looking at the car. I am positive it has not happened since i received the car because I am **** (just being honest). I think the dealer had a thick coat of wax to cover them and now they are showing because the soap stripped some of the wax...

WHAT can I do? How can I get rid of them...? Should I go to the dealer about this?

Thanks guys

Default Once you sign off on the car at time of purchase, most dealers aren't going to

consider themselves responsible for damage they or Audi might have incurred. There just isn't any way to prove anything. You could have had people using your car for a shelf in any parking lot or street at any time after the purchase.

Go to the detailing forum for advice on how to minimize the effects.

Default Detailing forum can help...

Doesn't sound too serious to me. The folks at the detailing forum are outstanding resources. My first impression would be to get some 3m Imperial Hand Glaze, see if that will mask the scratches, and then seal over with wax (this may not be a permanent solution though).

Hope this helps!

Default I feel your pain...(m)

My new A4 had dried paint drips on the rear bumper that I did not notice until my first wash a week later. Dealer has sent it out to get repainted several times w/out much success of matching the color. In the process, they got overspray all over my rear fenders...

sighhhh.... I am wondering if this will ever get resolved. This has been going on since October.

Default If they are not thru to the base paint, you can use Scratch Remover from Mother's or...

Scratch-X from Meguirer's. Both do a real good job on fine scratches. make sure to wax after.

Default question on use of Scratch-X...

I'm assuming it's a light abrasive, and that you just work it with a fair amount of force into the scratch and the surrounding area? I've seen it in stores but the directions don't say anything about application

Default I use it with light pressure or on a buffer and I have had no trouble at all.....

it is not that abrasive so there is no great worry about major damage. Either product works well on light to medium scratches. I use the Mothers product more than the Meguiers product.
