Help: Curing/Fixing Road Rash

I did a search and could not find the write up. I remember a really good write up about curing road rash with a little elbow grease. If anyone has a link or advice, it would be much appreciated.

Road rash = raw skin resulting from skidding on pavement :^)
And, yes, it takes more than elbow grease to fix curbed wheels. It's not too hard, though, if you take your time.
